Tribute to Jesuit Education by Jesuit Students (preparing for the Feast of Loyola, with Gratitude)

This is probably the easiest piece, as I just need to stitch together some facts and lessons I learned at school, a Jesuit school, where I evolved from a kid of 4 to a teen of 17, a fulfilling journey...13 years of my most important phase of life, from KG to 12th, where my thought process, brain cells, morals, social values and awareness, compassion, discipline, determination and dedication, cleanliness et al were fine tuned and instilled by those wonderful teachers and Jesuits.

As every other school would offer, my school St.Xavier's High School Loyola Hall also taught us all the same subjects and lessons. The Jesuit school went beyond, the teachers taught us to think, we understood and we grew in years and mind along with body and stature. We played sports, sat in the classrooms never knew what religion the student next to us practiced or better, we understood the importance of social equality and justice and also celebrated all festivals with enthusiasm. This was a huge milestone in my life, no religion, caste, language barrier, we all understood the values that Jesuit education and educators enriched us with, besides the parameters of the education board. This was the difference, the game changer in my life, as well as my class mates, we all grew up wiser, smarter and fitter ( mentally and physically ), a head start as we took our first steps into adulthood. This was our ammunition.

The leadership camps, social service days, compassion towards others, to give and not to count the cost, to be a person for others.....we understood and enriched our repertoires, with these lessons during our many camps, organized by the ever inspiring Jesuits. The moral science classes taught us the values, made our character stronger, conscience more clean and clear and imbibed in us the basic meaning of life and duty as well as responsibility towards mankind.

I can state that the Jesuit education and institute made me what I am today, and I stand with poise and dignity, as a faithful and happy alumnus, making an effort to reach out to my alma mater, and I am a proud President of the Jesuit Alumni Associations of India ( JAAI ) presently. Thank you Fathers, for all what you have done, are doing and will continue doing so. We shall try to walk the talk, and leave our footprints in the sands of time....the footprints created and stamped with the Jesuit way of life, the education we received from the respected Priests, and much more....

Respects,
Regards,
Shapath Shah.
