Email from Ciara Buester to ICAJE

As I mentioned on our skype call a few moments ago I would like to follow up in writing on what we talked about. Please feel free to come back to me with questions at any time!

When we met in Rome, at the end of May of this year Educate Magis and ICAJE had agreed on a few items.

While we have been following our strategic plan, we are also allowing some flexibility which helps us to respond to real-time events and issues.

I therefore wanted to check-in with you on each of the items and let you know our status as this will hopefully be of benefit to us both.

Below are the points we discussed in Rome (in black), and in green is our current status.

General Actions:

• Action 1 – please promote Educate Magis in your networks (and use the datasheets and presentations – copies provided by Dan and also available here ….http://www.educatemagis.org/about/) Please let us know if you would like assistance in promoting Educate Magis in your region.
• Action 2 – please invite us to drop into your meetings via Skype (email Ciara Beuster (cbeuster@educatemagis.org) ) This offer still stands and I am happy to attend any meetings if you feel this may be beneficial.
• Action 3 – Can you name one enthusiastic / committed person by end of July 2015 who could give us on the ground feedback from your region? (this is different to the main official contact point – that you have already given us) Could you take some time to think about this and send us on the name of this person (or people) by October 30^th 2015? Someone from your region who is enthusiastic about global education and could offer us valuable feedback as to how we can improve Educate Magis to meet the needs in your region. I will send you a gentle reminder on October 16th
 

Schools Profile Completion

• Ciara will email you to get help from your region with completion of the school profiles. Ciara will give you a list of the data elements that are now required (e.g. history, date of founding, photos, etc.). Mark, our web developer, has updated the design and functionalities of the school profiles this month making it more attractive and easier to use. We are now ready to update the actual profiles of each school. I will be in touch during the month of October with a specific list of items schools can add to their profiles.   
• Action 4 – The specific request from Ciara will be to ask you to give us the name of the person or persons who will be able to help us complete a more detailed profile of each school (e.g. regional rep, education delegate, person in the school, etc.). Deadline for response (with the contact names we are to work with) will be end of June. I had asked each of you in Rome what the best way to work with your region in collecting this information is and took note of this. I will confirm this process with each of you and then send on the specific instructions to the relevant person/people later in October.

Community Groups

• We wish to form new online cross-border groups in the areas below. See slides 20, 21 and 22 of the Educate Magis presentation to ICAJE from May 29^th2015 for the description. While this is still very much part of our strategic plan and we have started a pilot group, I will get back to you with more details on these as we finalize our plans.
• Action 5 - Please tell us via email by the end of June if your region desires to participate in some or all of these groups.

  • Primary School Teaching
  • Community Language Translation (for Educate Magis)
• Action 6 – please nominate one enthusiastic person for each group that you wish your region to participate in on or before July 30^th 2015 In the meantime, if you think of people in your region who would be interested and enthusiastic about participating in one or more of these groups please let me know.
