St. Xavier's at a Glance
St. Xavier's school completes 75 years of its glorious existence in the Pink City, Jaipur. It has a history itched in golden letters in the annals of Jaipur. Fr William Hussey SJ and Fr. Robert Ludwing SJ, came to Jaipur in the year 1941 on an invitation by the Jaipur State to establish a school meeting international standards. They took over St. Mary's, a school struggling for survival, which was originally started by two French missionaries Fr. Arthur and Fr. Ignatius at Ghatghate Catholic Church compound at the wish of  Bishop Le Floch of Jaipur. The school started with just six pupils, the Jesuits revived the school, brought it to its present location and since then there had been no looking back.
Today the schools boasts  a  magnificent edifice standing over 21 acres of land at the heart of the city. Its imperial buildings and life – size play fields make it no less than a dream for students and parents alike  to be a part of this gargantuan Xaverian legacy. The institution has changed emphatically over the years. From an all boys school, to a co – educational one, from English  medium to bilingual, and to English–medium again, and to becoming a torchbearer of education in Rajasthan.
Today it has a state of the art Fr. Batson Sports complex, cricketing fields, football grounds, Olympic sized swimming pool, well – equipped laboratories, high – tech language lab, computer assisted  classrooms and the lush green avenues.
True to the All-Inclusive principle of the Jesuit  Mission, the school has made all these facilities available also to the less privileged sections of the society.  The school has made various provisions to support the less privileged, most prominent of them being the 25% reservation for the deprived sections, and ‘Balwadi’, a scheme to bring the tiny – tots from lower strata of society at par with the rest. The schools spends a whopping 1.30 Crore Rupees on scholarships every year.
Enter the school corridors and the first thing that catches your eye are the words ‘Our Heroes’ inscribed on a golden plate and the pictures of five martyrs beneath: Captain Sumeet Barni, Lt. Puneet Nath Dutt, Lt. Amit Bhardwaj, Flying Officer Abhimanyu Singh Chauhan and Flying Officer Captain Hari Singh Kanota. Xaviers has a rich legacy of producing such great men, who have brought laurels to the nation. Admiral Madhvendra Singh, former Chief of Naval Staff, Air Chief Marshal S.P. Tyagi, former Chief of the Air Staff, Mr. Arvind Mayaram, current Principal Secretary, Minority Affairs, Union Government of India, Mr. Rajiv Mehrishi, current Home Secretary, Union Government of India, and Mr. Piyush Pandey, Advertisement Guru, are just a few of those prominent personalities of the nation who have been nurtured by the caring hands of the school.

' Jesuits go where others dare not' , today they have schools running in rural areas of Bhiwadi and Mahua , another branch at Nevta in Jaipur along with St. Xavier's College for Higher Studies and Xavier's Vocational Institute providing job oriented skills training to the needy in Jaipur.
As the glittering Xaverian insignia holds high, the school reaffirms its commitment to set newer standards in the coming era, doing all  ' For the Greater Glory of God'. May the blessings of our Holy founder St. Ignatius of Loyola and our Patron St. Francis Xavier continue to guide us, in all that we do and all that we aspire to do. Cheers for Xavier's!
